Check Genetics Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

Overview and scope

Check Genetics is operated by JJS GENETICS LLC. This policy explains information handling for checkgenetics.com, our Shopify storefront, purchases, and customer support. It covers Check Essential and Check Complete and other products offered through this storefront.

Genetic testing, clinical care, and results portals involve additional sensitive information and may involve separate organizations. This storefront policy is not a laboratory consent form, a healthcare provider's HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, or a complete patient portal privacy notice. Before providing a sample or using a results portal, review the notices and consents applicable to that service. Contact us if those documents or the responsible organization are unclear.

Information handled through the storefront

  • Purchase and account information: name, contact details, shipping and billing information, account information, products ordered, payment and transaction information, and correspondence about an order.
  • Practitioner choices: if you select a practitioner for result sharing, the storefront collects your practitioner selection and optional sharing choice as order information.
  • Support communications: messages and attachments you choose to send. Please do not send genetic reports, medication lists, or other medical information through the public contact form or ordinary email. Ask us how to use an appropriate channel for sensitive information.
  • Website information: device and browser information, pages visited, interactions, and information collected through cookies or similar technologies, subject to available privacy choices.

Why this information is used

Storefront information is used to process payments and orders, deliver kits, maintain customer accounts, communicate about purchases, handle returns and support, maintain and protect the website, address misuse, and meet applicable recordkeeping and legal obligations. Website information may also be used for analytics and marketing, subject to applicable law and your available choices.

Using the website or purchasing a kit does not, by itself, provide consent to genetic testing, optional practitioner sharing, research, secondary uses of genetic information, or biological sample retention after testing. Any required authorization for those activities must be obtained separately.

Shopify and service providers

Shopify provides the online commerce platform. Payment processing, shipping, customer support, website hosting, and related service providers may receive the information needed for their functions. Shopify also processes information under its own applicable privacy notices; see Shopify's Privacy Policy.

The organizations involved must be identified in the applicable testing or portal notices, together with their roles and who can access the information. Check Genetics remains responsible for its own handling and obligations; using a service provider does not remove those obligations. Who can access genetic information depends on the applicable testing arrangement and separately provided notice and authorization. This update does not grant Check Genetics access to genetic information collected under earlier promises. Ask info@checkgenetics.com for the organizations and privacy documents applicable to your order.

Genetic information and practitioner sharing

Genetic information is sensitive. The scope, purpose, recipients, and duration of access must be explained in the applicable testing or portal notice and authorization. Optional practitioner sharing is separate from purchase. You can request withdrawal of optional sharing by emailing info@checkgenetics.com; use the portal's sharing controls if they are available to you.

Withdrawal concerns future sharing and access covered by that authorization. It does not recall information already received by a practitioner or require deletion of clinical records that must be retained. A provider-ordered test may have different ordering, consent, and report-delivery arrangements, which should be explained by the ordering provider.

This policy does not authorize the sale of genetic information, disclosure of genetic information to an employer or insurer, or use of genetic information or health conversations for research, advertising, or AI model training. Any proposed secondary use requires a separate assessment and any consent required by law; website acceptance and cookie choices are not substitutes.

Cookies and marketing choices

The storefront uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as shopping, preferences, analytics, and marketing. Use the Cookie preferences link in the storefront footer to review or change available choices. Browser settings can also restrict cookies, although this may affect functionality. Follow the unsubscribe instructions in a marketing email to stop that email channel. Necessary order and service communications are separate from marketing.

Retention, access, correction, and deletion

Storefront records are retained as needed for the purposes described here, including fulfilling orders, handling support and disputes, and applicable legal recordkeeping. Sample, genetic-data, clinical-record, and portal retention depend on the responsible service and applicable legal requirements; they are not established by the duration of a paid portal subscription.

You can contact info@checkgenetics.com to request access to or correction of your information, account or data deletion, withdrawal of optional consent, or biological sample destruction. Identify the type of request and your order or account without attaching genetic or medical records. We may need proportionate identity verification. Requests involving a laboratory, clinic, or portal provider need to be coordinated with that organization. Applicable law may require some records to be retained; any applicable restriction should be explained in the response.

Depending on the law that applies to you and the information, you may have additional rights, including rights to know, receive a copy, correct or delete information, restrict certain uses, or opt out of covered sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Contact us to exercise applicable rights or raise a concern. Nothing in this policy removes a right provided by law.

Security, legal disclosures, and transfers

The storefront is accessed over HTTPS. No website or electronic transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. This policy does not certify every service as HIPAA or GDPR compliant or represent that every provider has a particular security certification. HIPAA protections depend on the entity, relationship, and information involved; applicable provider privacy notices and agreements address those responsibilities.

Information may be disclosed when required by applicable law or valid legal process, subject to restrictions that apply to genetic and health information. A corporate transaction does not itself remove privacy obligations or authorize a new use of genetic information. Contact us for information about the service providers and processing locations applicable to your service.

Children

Our current consumer testing products are offered to adults age 18 and older. They are not offered for testing a child through this storefront. If you believe a child's personal information was submitted in error, contact info@checkgenetics.com so the issue can be addressed.

Changes and contact

Changes will be posted with a revised effective date. This update does not authorize new uses or disclosures of information collected under earlier privacy promises. Any additional consent required for a materially different use must be obtained before that use begins.
