Terms of service
Check Genetics Terms of Service
Effective date: October 1, 2026
1. Operator and scope
This website and storefront are operated by JJS GENETICS LLC, operating as Check Genetics. These terms cover browsing checkgenetics.com, placing purchases through our Shopify storefront, and related customer support. Review the product description and applicable policies before ordering.
These storefront terms do not replace informed consent for genetic testing, a healthcare provider's treatment terms or privacy notice, or any separate terms and privacy notice governing a results portal. Purchasing a kit does not itself authorize every use or disclosure of genetic information.
2. Eligibility and accurate information
Our current consumer testing products are for adults age 18 and older and are offered within the United States, excluding New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. Do not order a consumer test for a child through this storefront or submit a sample from another person without the authorization and consent required for that testing arrangement.
Provide accurate contact, shipping, billing, and account information. A healthcare provider ordering on a patient's behalf remains responsible for the authority, informed consent, and professional duties applicable to that order. Do not impersonate a patient or practitioner.
3. Products, prices, and orders
Product pages describe the particular test and included services. Check Essential and Check Complete have different report offerings. A product described as coming soon is not an available testing service merely because a price or comparison is displayed.
Review the price, taxes, shipping information, included access, and any separately disclosed recurring charge before submitting payment. Product descriptions and prices may change for future orders; a later website change does not by itself remove the rights attached to an existing purchase. Contact us promptly about an order error or discrepancy.
4. Shipping, returns, and cancellations
Shipping and lab processing are different stages. Shipping estimates are not a guarantee of the date results will be ready. Review the Shipping Policy and the applicable order communications for delivery and processing information.
Returns, cancellations, replacements, and refunds are addressed in the Refund Policy. Contact info@checkgenetics.com for assistance. Nothing in these terms limits a refund, remedy, or other right required by applicable law.
5. Testing, reports, and medical decisions
Follow the collection instructions supplied with the kit. Laboratory testing and clinical review are distinct from a storefront purchase. The applicable laboratory and ordering provider should explain testing requirements, report delivery, limitations, and any required consent.
Our consumer test information and website content are informational and are not a diagnosis or a substitute for medical care. Genetic findings are only one part of assessing medication response or health. They do not account for all medical history, interactions, organ function, or other relevant factors. Never start, stop, or change a medication without your prescriber. Consult a qualified healthcare professional about a result and whether additional testing or review is appropriate.
The website, results portal, customer support, and any AI feature are not emergency services. For an emergency, contact local emergency services. Any AI-generated explanation can be incomplete or incorrect and must not be treated as a clinician's diagnosis, prescription, or treatment decision.
6. Portal access and renewal
Where included in your purchase, portal and AI access are subject to the access period disclosed for that product and the separate terms applicable to the actual portal. The current consumer offering advertises one year of included portal and AI access, renewal at $30 per year, and continued ability to download existing reports after cancellation. Any renewal enrollment, billing frequency, charge, and cancellation method must be disclosed before you agree to the renewal.
A storefront purchase or these terms alone does not authorize an undisclosed recurring charge. Cancellation of a paid feature is different from account deletion, genetic-data deletion, or sample destruction. Provider-only access and clinic arrangements may have separate written terms. Contact us if an advertised access feature is unavailable or an account or renewal charge needs correction.
7. Practitioner sharing and privacy
Optional practitioner sharing on the storefront is separate from purchasing a test. Choose a practitioner and provide the separate sharing authorization if you want that option. A provider-ordered test can have different report-delivery arrangements, which should be explained by the ordering provider.
You can request withdrawal of optional sharing by emailing info@checkgenetics.com or using available portal sharing controls. Withdrawal does not recall information already received or override legally required clinical-record retention. Review our Privacy Policy and the notices and consents applicable to the laboratory, clinic, and portal you use.
8. Accounts, sensitive information, and acceptable use
Protect your account credentials. Access only your own information or information you are authorized to access, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized account use. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, introduce malicious software, or misuse another person's information.
Do not submit genetic reports, medication lists, or other medical records through the public contact form or ordinary email. Ask customer support for an appropriate channel. Health information and private support communications are not treated as public comments or licensed for unrestricted publication under these terms. These terms grant no permission to use genetic information or private health communications for research, advertising, or AI model training.
9. Third-party services and content
Shopify provides the commerce platform. Laboratories, healthcare providers, portal operators, and other service providers can have separate terms and privacy responsibilities. Review the documents applicable to the service you actually use. Links to outside material do not establish that a third party's products or claims have been independently verified by Check Genetics.
Website materials may be protected by intellectual property rights. You may use information and reports you are entitled to access for lawful personal use and authorized discussion with your healthcare professional. Do not redistribute another person's private information.
10. Changes, service issues, and legal rights
We may update these terms and post the effective date. Changes do not retroactively authorize a new use of genetic information, remove accrued rights, or replace a separate consent required by law. Contact us about an error, service interruption, privacy concern, or dispute so it can be addressed.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, waives a mandatory consumer or privacy right, or transfers a healthcare provider's professional duties to you. Applicable law controls where it requires different treatment.
